Health insurance is a fundamentally broke concept in many countries. Part of the problem is that we're just so darn unhealthy. We conquered infectious disease at the expense of getting out butt kicked by chronic disease (COVID being the obvious exception, but it's starting to look like the punch that COVID packs really comes from the underlying conditions of chronic disease and not the infection itself, so you could argue that even COVID highlights our failure against chronic disease relative to infectious disease)
Another issue is that health insurance isn't just to cover true emergencies anymore, it's like a full health plan. Which sounds great until you realize that healthcare doesn't provide what we actually need: prevention. We're on our own for that.
