I definitely agree about the flat tax.

I think your most astute point (and one I hadn't thought about before) is the caliber of person who is out of a job if the tax laws get simplified. These are professionals who are well-educated, intelligent, and have in-depth knowledge of the financial maneuverings of wealthy individuals and businesses. They'll be fine if their job ceases to exist.
