I mean, that seems like a really random standard. I don't think we should reject every idea just because it has existed before. For instance, the notion that you shouldn't murder is pretty old and I'm fine having everyone follow that rule. In fact, I can't remember ever accusing people who don't murder of not knowing who they are unless they follow the rules of dead people.

I'm fine rejecting any traditions of the past that were harmful, but gender roles was one of the good ones.
