I think the problem is extrapolating writing for stand up to writing in general. Writing on Medium in 2021 is a very different animal than holding the attention of a live audience of 10k people. Some of it still carries over (as you pointed out, setting a time limit can help beat procrastination), but much of it needs to be taken in context.
