I totally agree that the relationship I have with my children is not a friendship. But obviously I have been through pain like the author is describing. It's not that I don't understand, it's that I think the claim is misleading. Saying "I wish I'd never had kids" is functionally the same as saying "I wish my kids didn't exist." You could say "I wish I could have had kids without the pain" and I think everyone would relate. But that's not what the author said. And considering we're on a public forum, it's not great to have misleading messages about such important topics. Too many people today are scared of having kids, they need to be encouraged and given hope. It doesn't help anyone when someone who doesn't actually seem to regret having kids writes articles implying they do.
