I was born in 1987 and graduated high school in 2005, so that's a good point: I really don't have *recent* firsthand experience with public education (I have plenty of secondhand experience knowing a lot of current teachers and students). I think the single biggest issue though is one that you don't need to be a student to weigh in on: the department of education needs to be abolished. Decisions about education should be made as close as possible to parents and teachers.
