I'm strongly against spending more than you can afford with a credit card, so you and I probably have lots of overlap in our views there. I can't speak for other countries, but for sure in the U.S. most people don't understand what they are getting into our how their use of credit is harming their financial situation.

My rules for credit cards are to always pay the full balance every month with auto pay and to never spend more than what I can afford. So far it has worked well, but it takes discipline.
