It's a tough problem. I actually just wrote another piece on that idea. I call it the Subway effect (I know Subway isn't luxury, but it applies to everything). I never want to go to Subway anymore, but it's not because I'm sick of it or the quality slipped, it's because all the competition is better. Not just subs, but all fast casual. Everything from homes to technology to food is so much better than when I was a kid in the 90's it's almost unbelievable
