Not only do we live in a time where English is the default lingua franca, but everyone has a phone with Google Translate in their pocket. I'm with you though, I'm trying to learn a bunch of languages (I'm farthest along in Spanish) because languages and communication are deeply human activities and they allow us to share in culture at a deeper level
