Th concept of a basic minimum income is a great one and one that I’ve thought a lot about before.
For me, being able to support my (growing) family is the number one goal. My wife stays at home with our two kids (we have a third on the way) so I’m the breadwinner (being totally transparent: I’m not as competent of a breadwinner as she is 😆. She’s been staying home by choice for six years now and I’m still not making nearly as much as she was when she was working).
The need to support my family means that I’m not pulling the trigger on ditching 9–5 until either a) I’m over the basic minimum with my writing or b) close to the basic minimum with lots of savings.
I’m confident that I can get there, but it can be discouraging at times, so I really appreciate pieces like this that motivate me to keep going. Thanks Shannon!
